I notice that Zzap didn't respond to my points from back on page 2. Is that a concession of victory, or did I really just completely disarm him? Was it the subsequent posts to Yellow Blossum, and their "shocking" civility that caused his silence?

Eh, that sounds like bull shit, no offense. Whether you're on a message board or on the street there's a social contract that everyone has to uphold. I understand that Uschi, rex, whoever else, might not consider their statements over the line, but the person their statements were directed toward got offended. And in this world - internet and real alike - when what you say offends someone else, you apologize. The fact that, were it said to them, they wouldn't have been offended, is irrelevant.

I do think rex is pathetic for the way he brings people's families into message board fights (and I let him know that when he did it to G-man) (even though G-man is a cunt) (he is, really) (literally), but, at the same time, I've always thought it's incredibly silly to get upset over stuff like that. (Mind you, what follows is a personal opinion. I know you guys like to oversimplify things by lumping us all together into one collective mind, but we do actually disagree on many things around here. It's part of the fun.).

Anyway, my take: In order to be able to insult someone you have to know them, and whomod is perfectly aware that rex knows nothing about his daughter. I'd get it if rex had somehow learned that she had a disability or something and made fun of that. THEN it would be personal. As it is, the insult is only effective because whomod allows it to be. rex wanted to get a reaction and you guys gave him exactly what he wanted, and more. On top of that, you've turned him into some kind of hero by giving us another raid to keep ourselves occupied, after a long, long outside hostility drought.

I'm pretty sure rex would have eventually given up on the joke had whomod ignored or made light of it. Instead, you've shown him how effective making fun of little girls is. You've given him and the rest of the guys who are into that kind of humour the motivation they needed to continue producing that stuff... as recent developments prove. Which -I'm sorry- is kinda funny.

Really, I get why you're doing this and I guess I kinda respect it, but your whole approach is wrong. You like to brag about being collectively smarter than the lot of us, but if you were you'd realize that this raid, at least in its current form, is pretty pointless. Unless you're planning to shift to a radically different strategy, you're never gonna get the results you want. As is usual in message board fights, both sides are gonna come out completely unchanged, each one claiming absolute victory. I know what I would do to get something out of rex, but I ain't gonna tell ya. ;-]

See, this post makes me chuckle for just how wrong it is. Clearly, you and yours didn't do a moment of research before commiting to your "raid."

If any of you had just come over and cracked jokes at Rex's expense, no one would've said a thing about it. We all make jokes at Rex's expense. We probably would've run with your jokes if they were particularly witty or good. The mistake you made - strictly from my vantage point - was in sending an overexcited Halo82 over. You'll notice my involvement was minimal until Halo's "this board is now the Insurgents' toilet" line. You all went on the attack when one of your own got butthurt about a stupid alt, what did you expect would happen when that post was made. If anything, your actions, and those of your "raiders" did more to unify this board than anything else could've.

Personally, I have no gripe with any of you. Not even Halo. But if you insist on coming here and making cracks at me or others, you have to expect that shots will be taken right back at you. Hell, we make fun of each other and most of us get along. As anyone will tell you, I don't raid. I've been to your board exactly once, and that was by invitation - actually, I've been given multiple invitations to join that board. You'll find no post there that are mine. But as far as I'm concerned, the treatment you all have received has always been exactly what you asked us for and as long as you or Halo or any of your own come over and continue this "raid," I'll be here to return aggression in kind.

Well, today at least. I'll be a bit busy starting tomorrow closing on a house and moving in.
