Eh, that sounds like bull shit, no offense. Is there something in the water over at the Insurgency that causes people to ignore or attempt to deny facts staring them in the face? Why on earth would I possibly lie to to you about this? What could I possibly gain in trying to be considerate, and attempting to explain the mindset here to you? I've been here since 2001. You've been here a couple of days. Tell me, who would know these boards better?  I think you're misunderstanding my use of the word "bull shit." I think it's bull shit that there's no standard of morality here. There's always a baseline anywhere. There's always rules, stated or unstated. Also, "facts?" We're both giving opinions here. It didn't even cross my mind you'd lie about your own opinion. Whether you're on a message board or on the street there's a social contract that everyone has to uphold. No there isn't. Based on whose rules? From where? Where has this been universally decided? Based on society's rules. I can't just go shit on your porch. Of course I physically can go shit on your porch, but given the rules of acceptable behavior dictated by the world we live in, I can't go shit on your porch. I understand that Uschi, rex, whoever else, might not consider their statements over the line, but the person their statements were directed toward got offended. And in this world - internet and real alike - when what you say offends someone else, you apologize. In perfect fantasy world, where no one hates anyone else, and everyone gets along, then sure, I would agree. Unfortunately, in the real world...in reality...people say mean things all the time and no one apologizes. And, that's in the real world, not even the faceless, voiceless equalizer of cyberspace. I have no kids (nor do I want any, you can keep them!), but I'm aware that people who do are very protective of them. so I can where whomod and LLance's (and yours, as you have kids, iirc) opinions diverge from mine on this matter. but again, I have to say, knowing how pathetic rex's actual life is, how can you really get worked up over what he does?
In my whole life there has never been as good an experience as being a father. Seriously, the first time your newborn son or daughter clutches your finger, you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is a G-d.
Again, I'm in the dark over rexy's life. I'll take your word for it. you should check out some of Pro's Random Interviews withe regulars here. get to know people a bit. there's one on Rex, I believe. but yeah, there's not a lot that could be done to him online that could be worse than his day to day reality. whomod, I don't know as well as some, but I have seen him overreact to many things here on many occasions (hell, I've had my share of bitchy days). I've also had one or two discussions about music with him where he's been very civil. I've got no real beef with him, although I do think he's a tad jumpy. I can understand him feeling like he was ganged up on and mistreated, but I do think he should look back at some of the examples of his own behavior and see where he brought some things on himself. I'm not referring to the "daughter" bit here.
In the last 3+ years or so, I don't think I've ever seen whomod overreact to anything. He's usually the one of the calmest Mods/Admins at the Insurgency. But, maybe it's the tenor of the boards here that bring that out in him. it could be. I know one of the first posts I saw by him on these forums was in a thread discussing the trend towards tpbs and ogns. he jumped into what was a pretty laid back conversation and went off on a rant. maybe he was just excited, I don't know. it's from several years ago. there's more (don't worry, Halo, I'll get round to addressing you!  ) but I'm strapped for time at the moment. Hey Grimm, Thanks for a civil post. you're welcome. truthfully, if you come at the majority of the people here with civility, they will return it. if you come at them yelling and shouting and raiding, etc. they'll return that, too.
