I bought that and the War Machine book. ONly read the Fury book so far. It was pretty cool, especially appropo during these times. Ennis has once again proven that he's an excellent writer of war/military books...anybody ever read his excellent mini from a few years back on The Unknown Soldier? The art was great on Fury as well. I've always liked Robinson's work on Transmetropolitan...the colorist used a dark palette for this issue and it fit the mood of the book very well.

That small, child-like part of me wished that we had Fury running an agancy like S.H.I.E.L.D. in this time of crisis.

So, nobody bought any of the MAX issues or are you all ignoring me?

So far, The War Machine book has been the best...except for the art.

I'm not a Marvel guy but, I heartily recommend the War Machine series. It's a 5 part mini published weekly and it has a 1.50 cover price. At that price, you can't go wrong.

I've read War Machine, but I've also been ignoring you...

Actually, it hasn't been too bad, but the art is kinda stiff. The covers look great, but the interiors are kinda tough to get past. That and the fact that I don't really see why they needed to make this a mature readers book. So it's got a couple of swear words in it. What's the big deal?

It's not the swearing so much as the violence. It's pretty graphic and would be even moreso if the art was better. Plus, I like the racial overtones of the book.

Ive enjoyed ALL the Max titles!

And agree the War Machine art is stiff and the violence is what got the rating. I also love the racial issuess being addressed although thus far minimally.

Fury has GREAT potential, I mean come on the first issue basically introduced the characters and was an awesome story!

Alias is really awesome although rufie informs me it is similar to Powers. I still like it as the characters are familar. Who didnt think of Basti when Cage wouldnt let Jess in his crib?

Wolvies origin has been good thus far!

I too LOVE Joe Quesada!!!

joe q is a good guy, and by far, the best thing to happen to marvel in decades.

he's loud, he's not afraid to kick shit around, and he gets the jobs done.

plus, he's an incredible artist and equally as good of a talent scout.

good sheeyit

Sorry, I just came...

I finally read Nick Fury this morning, and...It was alright. Nothing spectacular, but still better than most of the Nick Fury stuff we've had over the past twenty years. The only problems I had with it were his "nephew" (who didn't seem to serve any purpose) and the scene with the hookers. I don't know, but that just seemed really out of character for Nick Fury...

I was considering getting Fury yesterday, but I didn't for some reason. Maybe next time. I think I shall read this War Machine mini.

What is this Anime 5th Week event you speak of, Roy?
