I've posted this...somewhere else having to do with Halo's disparaging a family member, so I'm just gonna paraphrase here.
The difference between rex's use of whomod's daughter and Uschi's use of my son is that whomod's daughter was only 12 weeks old at the time. My son, even at the age of 10, is more than capable of handling himself verbally. Fucking with an innocent newborn is what set me off. Well, that and a couple other things mentioned in that post, but primarily an attack on a baby. And as good as my son is, heaven help you if you ever cross my 12 year old daughter. She'll pwn your ass in three different languages (english, spanish and hebrew and next year German) using words and phrases I can't even decipher, yet which results in hearty peals of laughter from her "posse". (Word, yo!)
I don't know how many of you guys are fathers or have children (is there a difference?) but IMHO, there is nothing more perfect and beautiful and just "right" than the relationship between parents and children, especially a newborn. The feelings are so intense every time you look at your sleeping babe, or marvel at a new thing he or she does or recognize that the world they're going to grow up in is most likely going to be shittier than the one you did that it comes close to overwhelming. I hope you get the chance to experience it one day.
Also, whomod never asked us to undertake this task. This is being done on a purely volunteer basis.
