I would've done that trade in a heartbeat. Then and now. And, yes, the cheap-ass Marlins definitely traded away a pitcher that they knew they "couldn't afford" in his arbitration years, but Lowell was considered a "throw-in" - basically, the miserly Marlins weren't going to trade Beckett without the team taking Lowell's $9 Million contract as well. The previous year, Lowell had underperformed to the point where he was considered a throw-in. Cute how that worked out for the Marlins. Just like how they traded away Cabrera and Willis, knowing that they "couldn't afford" (didn't want to pay) those players in their arbitration years. It's not shilling if them's the facts, boyo.

I made the offer and kept bugging her to either accept, reject, or counter the offer. I offered her Cano and Joba, among other deals.
