I found a used copy for $3.00 a month or so ago. Mrs. G and I watched it last night.
It was very good. I haven't read the book in about twenty years so I didn't notice all the differences between it and the movie. But I thought they did as good a job as could be expected adapting a twelve issue miniseries into a two hour film. Hugo Weaving and Stephen Rea turned in very good performances (Weaving actually succeeded in emoting through the mask; no small feat). Portman didn't screw up her accent too often...Overall, I'd watch it again. ...
Update: at this point, I'm not sure I could watch the film again without seeing it as a comedy. Thanks to Halo and the insurgency, every time I saw V's mask, I'd probably think he was about to start wanking, crying and getting his ass kicked on a message board and start laughing my ass off.
