I agree with Joe on most accounts with Shaun of the Dead. The movie knows what it wants to be. A romantic comedy with zombies. The cover says it all. However you have to see Shaun before Hot Fuzz to get Pegg and Frost's humor. The scene in the Winchester with the zombie bartender is great.

Your love of Dr. Who outgays my love of Superman and Rob's love of Nintendo/Hogan/Batman combined.

Adding to the list:
Every Adam Sandler movie. EVAR!

The Pirates sequels.

The first Spider-Man movie, it was boring compared to the second.

Star Wars. While the original trilogy was good, the mass merchandising/parodizing of every part of it is completely unoriginal.

No you don't. I saw Hot Fuzz first, and totally got their humor. Loved it. Loved them. I then wondered what they had done with it when I watched Shaun. But, that's just me.

I love how you always fixate on Doctor Who as if it's some form of secret or insult that it's my favorite franchise. I also love how you attempt to speak with authority. It's fun to watch you try and grow up. Keep trying...

My top five (off the top of my drunken head):

1. American Pie
2. Sideways. Critics raved. I fell asleep off of a wine drunk.
3. The Burton Batman movies. Don't get me wrong. They were good Tim Burton films. They, however, were not good Batman films.
4. Network. "I'm mad as hell, and I am not going to watch it anymore!"
5. American History X. Good movie, but far too full of leftist propaganda. I think we can all understand the problem of racism without this movie shoving the lesson down our throats.

I'm sure there are many I could've and, probably, should've named. But, I'm drunk and these are the first five to come to mind.

You do realise it was probably the first movie to ever really do merchandising on that kind of level, meaning it was very original when it came to that?

Yeah, there had been merchandising before, with all sorts of things from Batman, to Star Trek to James Bond, but up until Star Wars, nobody had done it on a level compared to what Star Wars did.

Todays merchandising, owes a lot to the Star Wars merchandising of the 70s and 80s.

5. Batman and Batman Returns directed by Tim Burton. 1st Batman: Pretty good but could have been better, if the writer's strike hadn't stopped Sam Hamm from finishing the original script. (With Dent becoming Two-Face, Batman not killing Joker and with Robin at the end.) Batman Returns: Batman became too much of a Punisher-style hero. Should have had Two-Face and the return of Joker. Pretty good as a Tim Burton film.

4. Titanic. Prometheus and others have made the perfect explanation.

3. I'm not there. (Todd Haynes.) Pretentious, artsy-fartsy... Read the rest in my review.

2. The Matrix trilogy. Liked the 1st film, but isn't that ground-breaking if you've read Philip K. Dick or William Gibson. This trilogy is to Cyberpunk what Star Wars is to Space Opera, but Star Wars is much better at that.

1. Superman Returns. I can't believe the professional critics didn't see how Supes acted like a goddamned stalker/pedophile.

"Batman is only meaningful as an answer to a world which in its basics is chaotic and in the hands of the wrong people, where no justice can be found. I think it's very suitable to our perception of the world's condition today... Batman embodies the will to resist evil" -Frank Miller

"Conan, what's the meaning of life?"
"To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women!"
-Conan the Barbarian

"Well, yeah."
-Jason E. Perkins

"If I had a dime for every time Pariah was right about something I'd owe twenty cents."
-Ultimate Jaburg53

"Fair enough. I defer to your expertise."
-Prometheus

I just watched American Pie again last week since it first came out. Now granted I can find a lot of flaws in it now after many years have passed, but it still was funny as fuck and better than many comedys out there.

I swear Singer's goal was to back the franchise into a corner.

Adding: Will Ferrell movies after Old School. Ron Howard's "How the Grinch stole Christmas".

Cruise is one of those actors I never much cared for back in the old dats, but since Mission Impossible, I have tended to enjoy many of his films.

I really couldnt care less if he is a looney these days, just so long as his films are good.

Except it's historically inaccurate to the point of being pure fantasy. For one, the Samurai where an oppressive aristocracy that exploited and oppressed the "common folk." This is why there was such a surge of animosity when the western styles of society began taking root.

George Lucas never touted the film's authenticity as did the producers of "The Last Samurai" when promoting their film.

Das Boot was pretty accurate. I'm not saying that a movie has to be 100% true to every insignificant detail, but Last Samurai was gobdamned ignorant.

Here is mine:

Face/Off: Terrible film. It seems alot of people liked it. God only knows why.

It starred Nick Cage and John Travolta.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day: Once the novelty of the special effects wear off it's crap.

More to come...

I have seen Anchorman. It had one scene in it that was consistently funny, and it wasn't because of Will Ferrell. I've also seen enough of Elf to be bored by it.

I actually stopped hating Ferrell with Old School. It was decent. Then Anchorman and Talladega Nights were just fucking hilarious.
