This isn't Obama's deal. I agree with you, Dave. It isn't a deal at all. It is an invitation to do a deal.

In my view, Trump surrendered. He had to, by his own words, stop economic catastrophe which was consequential upon Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC have been left in power. Trump's exhortation to the Iranian people to rise up has failed, and to be honest he could never have helped them without an invasion. In so far as the Iranian people are concerned, the IRCG more in control than ever.

And now Trump is offering to bribe them with $300 billion of someone else's money. Just imagine how far that gets you if you're out to spread radical Shia Islamist jihad.

I think that if you're going to effect regime change, you invade a country. I sound like a fucking neo-con (I swear, I'm not G-Man pretending to be Australian). I acknowledge it didn't work in Afghanistan. But it worked in Iraq, and way back when, it worked in Japan, South Korea, and Germany. That scenario however would cost a lot of American lives.

Dave, you're misunderstanding in your second-to-last post how global markets work. Just because the US has its own petroleum reserves does not mean it (and US consumers) are not hit by global price increases, because globalisation means there is a global market. We have all seen this in play at bowsers across the world.
