no, actually it makes sense. The Destroyer is powered by Odin-force. Odin falls into one of his periodic "sleep modes" to replenish his power, Destroyer's link to power source is cut off. He uses up all his stores on Earth, enabling Thor to put him down pretty easily.

I understand that. I would've preferred a longer fight myself. but it does make sense. if it had been the big ending battle, it would likely have gone longer. but it wasn't. it was a plot tool for Thor to get his powers back. in that sense, it works.

Yeah, I would have also preferred a longer fight. My point was that it was nice to actually see a "Superman level" movie character actually fight someone in their relative strength class as opposed to lift things and stalk people.

right? that's one of the reasons we like Superman 2 so much. the big fights with Zod & co.

Presactly. And Thor benefitted from 30 years of advancements in special effects (and no Richard Lester to throw in some extra camp).
