It's MSNBC. What do you expect? They're the Looney-Left's idea of FAUXNews. The only thing they do differently is not attempt to sell people on any "fair & balanced" nonsense. If you watch MSNBC you're looking for Leftist slants to agree with, not objective information. Disinformation from the corporations who own the media. Same as it ever was...

MSNBC is the left's version of right wing biased FOX news. MSNBC does have a token conservative show (Scarborough) though and I don't think FOX even does that.

Agreed. They're no better or worse than FAUX at any given time.

Isn't the fact that they can only survive by giving advertisers/viewers what they want (instead of need) actually makes them inherently prone to slants and spins?

There's nothing on TV that we can fully trust, except for TMZ.

Agreed. As long as we allow capitalists to run the news, then it's inherently nothing more than biased marketing designed to benefit the parent corporation, instead of inform the American citizen. Thus, the state of our world.

Ideally, this only applies to the stories that distributors and media outlets feel most compelled to give air time, and not necessarily their content.

O'reilly, for instance addressed complaints that Fox was giving too much air time to Paris Hilton and Micheal Jackson's death. He explained that, as a competitive business, Fox needs to report what potentially gets the most ratings. But that needn't entail that they fuck around with the facts of the stories they run.

MSNBC on the other hand, has outright stated that their station is geared specifically towards liberals--or "progressives" as they chose to call them. That puts them in a completely different stratosphere of reporting as far as competition goes.

Nope. They're both exactly the same biased propaganda from two different sides. The only people who can't see that are the willfully biased, blind, or dumb. Fact.

Fox News has actually seen a rise in viewership since Obama has taken office.

And expanding on Pariah's comments, O'Reilly has pointed out repeatedly that their viewership includes a considerable number of moderates and liberals who view to see a broader perspective than the liberal-media-Newspeak monopoly that supresses anything that reflects negatively on Obama, and only reports it with the greatest reluctance.
(examples include the BP oil spill, the ACORN scandal, the suppression till now of the Eric Holder/"Fast and Furious" scandal, the Solyndra scandal, the race-focused refusal to prosecute the Black Panthers voter intimidation case, and on and on. In every case, every network but Fox and a few other conservative media have virtually ignored these major scandals. As sharply contrasted with how they leaped on similar stories involving George W. Bush.)

So... is FOX really "partisan"? I would argue they are the only network willing to truly report the facts. They are equal time.

And in many cases, such as the ACORN scandal, the Shirley Sherrod NAACP scandal, The National Inquirer revelation on John Edwards' extramarital affair and illegitimate love-child, Trayvon Martin's unreported suspensions and "No_Limit_Nigga" thug activities and twitter/Facebook postings, these were not even Fox News stories. FOX News simply picked stories from Breitbart, National Inquirer, Daily Caller and other sources, that the liberal media selectively blacked out, to protect the Obamaessiah.

They reported from these sources that the rest of the media partisanly suppressed, even as FOX also reported many other stories from the New York Times, Washington Post, Politico, Associated Press and other liberal media.

I'v repeatedly pointed out that a Pew Research survey from the Center For Journalistic Excellence, during the 2008 election, found that Fox news was the ONLY network that had truly balanced coverage of both Obama and McCain. (40% negative Obama coverage, 40% negative McCain coverage, 22% pro-Mcain, 25% pro-Obama). And all the other networks all tilted about 20 points or more for Obama!

So... there is some quantifiable basis for the "fair and balanced" tagline. Certainly arguably more so than the Obama-cock-slurping liberal media.

  • from Do Racists have lower IQ's...

Liberals who bemoan discrimination, intolerance, restraint of Constitutional freedoms, and promotion of hatred toward various abberant minorities, have absolutely no problem with discriminating against, being intolerant of, restricting Constitutional freedoms of, and directing hate-filled scapegoat rhetoric against conservatives.

EXACTLY what they accuse Republicans/conservatives of doing, is EXACTLY what liberals/Democrats do themselves, to those who oppose their beliefs.

It's not really surprising that somebody who would use the phrase "Obama-cock-slurping liberal media" would be defensive of FOX's conservative bias.
