The "Obama was born in kenya and therefore not eligble to run for president" narrative was created by a Hillary Clinton staffer.
Period, the end.
If Obama had simply presented the documents that every other presidential candidate presented, there would have been no margin for Trump to question whether Obama had a U.S. birth certificate. MANY YEARS AFTER OBAMA HAD NOT DONE SO, Trump publicized the issue, and publicized Obama's nondisclosure, to the point that it began to hurt Obama politically and make him decline in the polls, at which point Trump was again able to do what no one else could do, make Obama disclose his documentation of citizenship.
And I again point out that the Hillary Clinton campaign began the same false narrative against John McCain in 2008, alleging he was not born in the U.S. and therefore not elegible to run for president. (McCain was, of course, born on a U.S. naval base in the Panama canal zone, and certainly a U.S. citizen and able to run. And likewise Obama was born in Hawaii, where both his parents met and attended college, so Obama also is a U.S. citizen and on that criteria able to be president. So it isn't "racist", the same tactic was used against McCain, and last time I checked, McCain was white.)
As far as CNN and other Trump-cited "fake news", when newspapers and network news channels consistently release an unprecedented number of news stories where they cite anonymous sources to accuse the president, or deliberately report stories that are proven to be factually untrue about the president, or in their zeal to report something negative about the president repeatedly get the story wrong, all in an effort to damage the president politically, they are in fact "fake news" and factually innaccurate. Deliberately and maliciously innaccurate, and by choice an instrument of the opposing party on a holy mission to damage and destroy the President.
And Trump has repeatedly said that it is
not all news that is fake news, not even all those who report negatively about him, but
only those sources that are partisan against him and deliberately dishonest.

There is pretty much a false narrative launched by the liberal media at least once a week, often exposed as inaccurate just a few days later, and never apologized for.
The unbearable snottiness with which White House Press and other reporters treat President Trump, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and ANY Trump official, is daily proof of their partisan bias against the president. AGAIN: a way they would never treat Obama or any of his officials.
And on the media's selective omission of the facts that would vindicate the president in alleged "Russia collusion", and their failure to report on the abuses of the Hillary Clinton campaign, the abuses and collaboration by oficials of the FBI, DOJ, CIA, NSA, and the filing of deliberately fabricated FISA on false evidence, where branches of government were weaponized against Republicans to bring down Trump's 2016 presidential campaign.
And similar earlier Lois Lerner IRS abuses also largely unreported, similarly dismissively reported to fly cover for the Democrats.
In these specific cases where the news media have abandoned objective pursuit of the truth, have partisanly chosen sides, have suppressed knowledge of a nation-threatening conspiracy, the news media (those participating in the malicious false reporting, suppression of facts, and cover-up)
are in fact the enemy of the people that Trump has identified them as.
