Sure republicans helped pass civil rights but it took a democratic President with a democratic majority to actually pass it. Maybe you're not aware but republicans were the minority party at the time and had very few seats in the South before those laws were passed. Most of my family are conservative, so I haven't alienated them with my political views. Both them and many other friends have been turned on to a lot of the articles and political literature I've recommended to them, and have thanked me profusely. We laugh together at the liberal zombies like you who are incapable of debate or listening to views outside their "safe" Newspeak world of liberal propaganda. Utterly immune to facts.
But even many liberal friends and relatives I can still have a pleasant conversation with about politics. A select few are liberals I still like, but I have to avoid political discussion, so as to keep things pleasant, because I know what their limits are of what they can handle.

You assume a lot of facts not in evidence. I was in a relationship with a girl for over 10 years, and still speak to her regularly on the phone. I've almost married twice before that, and while heartbroken at the time, in retrospect think I would have been unhappy in the long term with both, and in retrospect am grateful both didn't work out. I was actually out for a couple hours earlier tonight with a girl who clearly would like me to take it further, I'm actually reluctant because in her 20's, she's a bit too young for me, and I don't want to risk hurting her. I'm never without prospects, but after a long-term relationship, I'm not eager to jump into another serious relationship.
